I love doors, a lot. I’m not really sure why. Maybe because it is the first thing you have to do to open a new room or place—so much potential and adventure. Brooklyn has no shortage of beautifully crafted doors. This one is in Brooklyn Heights.
I love the original version of “Midnight City” by M83, but absolutely love this remix. It makes me want to drive through California at night to Los Angeles. I will one day.
On most Saturdays I like to go over to Greenpoint—my favorite neighborhood in Brooklyn. The place is a mix of hipsters who can’t find a place to live in Williamsburg and Polish families. Most of the signs are in Polish and you often don’t hear people speaking English there, which I absolutely love.
Every time I visit, I go to Word to find a new book to read or pick up a few postcards to send to friends. After siting outside and looking at the urban landscape, I walk over to Grumpy Cafe to read my new book or write notes.
It’s really a blessing to live so close to the Brooklyn Bridge. This shot is about two blocks away from me. Every day, I walk along the promenade and watch people hanging out or just reflecting about what I want to accomplish here. This is why I love Brooklyn…never gets old just walking around.
